The Globus platform allows you to share your data hosted at the IGBMC with collaborators around the world.
Here is the procedure for creating a data share with a collaborator outside IGBMC.
Requirements
To be able to share your data with a collaborator outside the IGBMC, your collaborator must have a Globus account. Creating a Globus account is free of charge and can be done from the Edugain identity federation (research institutes and universities worldwide), from an ORCID account or by creating a GlobusID account.
Basecally, you just have to connect to https://app.globus.org once to create your Globus account.
Log on to app.globus.org using the identity federation or your ORCID account
Once you have logged in, search for IGBMC collections in the File Manager
Choose the collection corresponding to the storage where your data is located, for example Mendel.
Globus will tell you that authentication is required to access this collection.
Click on Continue
Globus invites you to choose an identity to access the collection.
Click on Idp IGBMC (igbmc.fr)
You are now redirected to the IGBMC authentication portal.
Globus delegates to the IGBMC the identification of its users to be able to consult the contents of an IGBMC collection.
Log in with your IGBMC computer account.
Globus now presents the contents of the Mendel collection
Navigate to the folder you want to share with your external colleagues.
Select a folder then click on the Share button on the right side of the window.
Globus presents a list of your Guest collections.
A Guest collection is a virtual collection that you can make available to Globus users from a folder in a collection to which you have access.
Click on Add Guest Collection
Globus suggests that you create a new collection corresponding to the folder you have previously selected.
You can define a display name for this collection, a description and keywords.
Once you have entered the information, click on Create Collection.
Globus now invites you to define the access permissions to this Guest collection.
Click on Add Permissions — Share With.
Enter the email address of a colleague with whom you would like to share this collection.
Also set the desired access permissions:
- read: read only
- write: write (create, modify and delete files)
Globus also allows you to send a notification e-mail to your colleague. You can customise the content of this email.
Finally, click on Add Permission.
Your colleague now has access to your Mendel file from Globus, depending on the rights you have granted them.
They will be able to :
- consult (and if necessary modify) this folder from their browser
- synchronise it on their workstation or with another storage space connected to Globus
