The Globus platform allows you to give access to your data hosted at the IGBMC to UCSC Genome browser.
Here is the procedure for creating a public share on your data.
You will create a public link, without authentication: it means that anyone with this link can access the data.
Log on to app.globus.org using the identity federation or your ORCID account
Once you have logged in, search for IGBMC collections in the File Manager
Choose the collection corresponding to the storage where your data is located, for example Mendel.
Globus will tell you that authentication is required to access this collection.
Click on Continue
Globus invites you to choose an identity to access the collection.
Click on Idp IGBMC (igbmc.fr)
You are now redirected to the IGBMC authentication portal.
Globus delegates to the IGBMC the identification of its users to be able to consult the contents of an IGBMC collection.
Log in with your IGBMC computer account.
Globus now presents the contents of the Mendel collection
Navigate to the folder you want to share with your external colleagues.
Select a folder then click on the Share button on the right side of the window.
Globus presents a list of your Guest collections.
A Guest collection is a virtual collection that you can make available to Globus users from a folder in a collection to which you have access.
Click on Add Guest Collection
Globus suggests that you create a new collection corresponding to the folder you have previously selected.
You can define a display name for this collection, a description and keywords.
Once you have entered the information, click on Create Collection.
Globus now invites you to define the access permissions to this Guest collection.
Click on Add Permissions — Share With.
Select these options:
- “Share With”: public
- Permissions: read
Finally, click on Add Permission.
Then you can open your collection in the Globus File Manager.
Select a file, and clic on “Get Link”. Then, under “access the selected file directly”, you can click on “view URL” to get the link to the file.
